Secret
Trails
So me and Rob decided to
go and make our own downhill trail the other day at a top secret
location. We got some old pallets for a bit of North Shore style
action and headed to the venue. We then humphed pallets around to
our desired location. Just as we stopped for a breather i looked
to my left and what did i see - the tell tale signs of North Shore.
Someone has already started what we set out to do - and what a good
job they have done aswell. So we decided to ride their trail and
check it out. Half way down the first section the trail splits and
the left fork had no obstacles so we thought it fitting to build
a couple here to help make the trail. We spied a couple of felled
trees and used them in conjunction with one of the pallets and made
a sweet ladder jump over a drainage ditch. We them made a skinny
over the next drainage ditch (pics to follow). The purpose of these
obstacle was to keep the trail flowing. Now if anyone reads this
page and knows who built the big drop off, see-saw, doubles and
other drops then please let us know who you are as we would like
to congratulate you on your fine work. If you dont know wether or
not we are talking about your trails or not then here is a clue
- You will have seen a couple of pallets at the side of your trail
and a saw was left for all to use beside the biggining of the trail
at the big drop.

Snow
Fest at Traquir
Monday 20th December and
Me and the Shields meister were at Traquir forest today, which is
part of the seven stains network. Traquir rock man its way cool.
We have to get out here more often the trail has nice single track
from Minch Moore, Technical rock gardens, swooping forest trails
with rock obstacles and the ultimate finale of big jumps and drop
off's which is favoured to the downhill - by the downhillers no
less. The last section is crazy stuff man it has to be seen to be
believed. Today was i good day even though i was quite tired after
being at Peebles with Fraser and Scotty on the Sunday, which was
also most excellent. Oh and it was white with snow today which made
up for the tiredness.
Crazy Canadians
Just wanted to show you guys these pics of the tail in Canada where
the Crankworks festival and videos were shot/held - whatever.
See videos section for detail on how to download the preview of
Crankworks.
Mabie Forest
Mabie forest is quality now that the 2Km of North Shore style trails
have been finished. Opened by Kona Clump Robbie Bourden, The boys
were there not long after to see how the trails had progressed from
their unfinished state as they were the last time we saw them. More
has been added with a meaty drop on the way to the North Shore section,
if you've been there already you'll know what I mean, followed by
a muddy downhill section and then nice downhill though some trees.
This is great because it breaks up the long journey over to the
other side of the loch to the North Shore.
If you have not been to Mabie Forest yet, well get up there - it's
quality man!
| Ive also spotted a drop of about 3 feet that
i want to try - but have not got the balls together yet. Its
also very near my house so i dont want to drop it and fall off
in full view of all my neighbours. It will happen its just a
matter of time. |

Cross
Country
Well after a cross country mission at the weekend
just like the old days I have decided to get myself leaner and fitter
during the winter months.
Today
me and the boys (Shieldsy, Rab and Fraser) were out on the Mugdock
run again and we all agreed that it is a top run. During the week
i will write a review and possibly some directions for the route that
wee were on allthough there is a multitude of trails out that direction
and the possibility of linking it with Queens View and the Whangie.
Peebles
A-Line Airfest
The boys have been to Peebles on a number of occassions and the new
jump fest that is the new part of the Red Route is absolutely fantastic
- more of this please. I have suggested that the boys from the new
top secret trails that I cannot mention as yet should incorporate
some of this stuff into their routes if they want to compete with
the Peebles course.
