Route guides The Whangie

How to get there: It’s only a 45 minute trip from Glasgow city centre.Start OS sheet 64, The Queens view car park (A809 between Milngavie&Drymen )We start our climb from the Queens view car park for a “lung buster”.

From the Queens View car park cross over the stile and take the low path for about a mile.

Its very technical in parts, also take care for the mud it can be up to your knees in parts “if only you could get spd wellies”

As the path sweeps round to the left you get a great view of Ben Lomond.

You have now reached the Whangie for a well-earned breather.

Once you turn the corner be ready for the strong wind “I don’t mean the kind after one of Malkys famous Spam sarnies”

Cycle through the gully and head sharp right up the hill towards the trig point.

When you reach the trig point keep the reservoir on your right hand side.Follow the trail as if you were going to miss the left hand corner of the reservoir and you will have a quick shot of downhill. You will the reach the access road to the reservoir turn right and cycle for 150 yards.Turn right and you will see a faint trail back up the hill towards the gully “your legs and lungs will be about to explode”When you have completed this loop, cycle straight through the gully and this will take you back onto the original path. All you need to do now is lower your seat make sure your brakes are working and go for it.
